Building Stronger Communities Together through Mental Health and Sport.
The 305ers vs Broward Charity Softball Event
Annual | Second Week of January
The 305ers vs Broward Charity Softball Event is One Hometeam Foundation’s flagship two day annual initiative, held each year during the second week of January. This event unites athletes, families, mental health professionals, and community leaders around service, mentorship, and mental health advocacy.
Day One: Hospital Walk-Off & Community Service
The event begins with a hospital walk-off at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, where participants spend time with young patients and their families. This day is centered on empathy, perspective, and human connection—reinforcing the importance of presence, gratitude, and service.
Day Two: Competition, Mentorship, and Mental Health
The Sandlot Game
As part of the 305ers vs Broward Charity Softball Event, the Sandlot Game brings together youth athletes and mentors in a high-energy instructional environment. In partnership with Florida Pokers, Florida Minority Baseball, and led by Juan Pierre, the Sandlot Game emphasizes leadership, resilience, teamwork, and emotional awareness—on and off the field.
305ers vs Broward: Lewis Brinson & Friends
The weekend culminates with the main charity softball game, 305ers vs Broward, featuring Lewis Brinson and Friends. Current and former professional athletes join community members in a competitive, purpose-driven environment that encourages connection, storytelling, and open conversation around mental health.
Together, these components form a unified two-day experience built on service, sport, mentorship, and community impact.
Mental Health Run
[ Running Is Medicine ]
The Mental Health Run is One Hometeam Foundation’s movement-based mental health initiative, grounded in both research and lived experience. The guiding principle of the event Running Is Medicine reflects the powerful connection between physical movement and mental wellbeing.
The run brings together former Olympic athletes, endurance runners, mental health professionals, and community members to share education and firsthand insight on how consistent movement supports emotional regulation, reduces anxiety, sharpens focus, and strengthens discipline.
Research consistently shows that running, exercise, and intentional movement can:
Reduce anxiety and stress
Improve emotional regulation
Enhance focus and cognitive clarity
Reinforce routine, discipline, and self-efficacy
Reconnect the mind and body
The Mental Health Run reframes exercise as a therapeutic tool, positioning movement not as performance alone, but as medicine for long term mental health and resilience.
